Why Support Lee Health Coconut Point?

Edward J. Donahue

“I think Lee Health has done a very good job in growing and expanding with the specific type of medical facilities that are needed Bonita Springs and Estero are growing in leaps and bounds,” said Mr. Donahue. “That’s why the center at Coconut Point is so important to us.”

As president of The Copperleaf Charitable Foundation for five years, Edward helped raise enough money for Golisano Children’s Hospital to have a room on the hospital’s fifth floor named after the Foundation. His ongoing support of Lee Health also includes funding for Lee Health Coconut Point. You never know where your relationship with Southwest Florida’s leading health care provider could take you!

“I can describe what Estero needs in just five words,” Mr. Wood said. “Timely access to health care — with the emphasis on timely. Let’s face it, if there’s an emergency medical situation, it could take up to 45 minutes or more at rush hour during peak season to get to an emergency room. Estero and unincorporated areas of Lee County are growing by leaps and bounds. We need a hospital here.”

Scotty Wood is an Estero resident and chairman of the Village of Estero Planning and Zoning Board. He’s also a longtime advocate for a medical facility between Fort Myers and Naples, and he’s finally seeing his dream come to fruition.

“It will be the anchor for emergency care in Southwest Florida,” Mr. Roberts said about the new Healthy Life Center at Coconut Point. “We’re very excited to be a part of that.”

After Bill Roberts’s successful career as a chemical engineer and a business owner, he and his wife, Marilyn, made the permanent move to Pelican Landing in Estero in 2014. They knew they wanted to give back to their new community, and they found Lee Health was the perfect fit.
