On January 12, 2018 the Southwest Florida community helped raise more than $200,000 during the 12-hour Helping Kids with Cancer Radiothon on Cat Country 107.1, with support from 95.3 OLZ, at Mel’s Diner in Fort Myers. The event showcased Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida’s Pediatric Cancer Program and positive impact this program has on the lives of children and families throughout the five-county region it serves. Through Barbara’s Friends – Golisano Children’s Hospital Cancer Fund – the program supports the pediatric oncology and hematology programs and family-centered services not reimbursed by public or private health insurance.
Money raised from the Radiothon stays here in Southwest Florida and is used to provide the children’s cancer program with everything – including building America’s newest children’s hospital – to give local kids a fighting chance to win their battle with this horrible disease.
Thank you to everyone who called, stopped in to Mel’s Diner or donated online to help us exceed our $200,000 goal!
While the Radiothon may have ended, Barbara’s Friends – Golisano Children’s Hospital’s Cancer Fund is always in need of support. The Fund is dedicated to providing resources to fulfill the treatment and educational needs of Southwest Florida’s pediatric oncology and hematology patient population. Please consider “Being a Friend” in support of pediatric cancer patients in our community. Your $300 donation also qualifies you and a guest to attend Barbara’s Friends Appreciation Concert on February 28.Be a Friend!
